make your brand stand out

Do you ever find yourself looking around at your competitors and wondering what on earth you can do to make your brand stand out? Some have done it longer, others have more qualifications and still others have a flashy website that puts yours to shame....  It can be pretty disheartening!

Luckily for you, I'm here to tell you how YOU can make your own brand shine so that everyone else is looking at YOUR business and wondering if they can possibly compete... 😉

Don't be fooled into thinking you need some kind of secret skill set in order to make your brand stand out.  A few simple guidelines are all you need to put you ahead of the game.

Be recognisable

The first step to standing out is to actually be recognised! You want your ideal clients to immediately recognised you and your business. But how?

Consistent branding

Creating a consistent brand will really help your audience to recognise your business.

  • Colours
  • Fonts
  • Graphics
  • Logo
  • Words or phrases

All of these things can help to build a recognisable brand so your ideal clients know it's you as soon as they see your content on any platform. You can DIY with this (I did for the first 5 years of my business) or you can get your branding done professionally. I worked with the incredibly talented Brand Inspire to create my current brand and I absolutely love it!

Be different

Wait - so I'm telling you to be consistent AND to be different??

Yep. You see, while your brand should be consistent - YOU should be unique. There's often a temptation to look at others we admire to see how they're showing up and what they're doing that makes them so successful.

Then we try to emulate it - after all, if it works for them, why not you?

Because you're not THEM.

You need to find YOUR way to stand out - and the best way to do that is to really lean into what makes you, YOU.

  • Your style
  • Your mannerisms
  • Your opinions
  • Your story
  • Your values

And all the other wonderfully imperfect bits of you that make you unique and stand out.

be known for what you do

What could be better than being recognised not just for your brand and your personality (although that's pretty fab) but for your RESULTS.

In my opinion, the best way to become know for what you do - especially in the earlier days of your business when your audience may still be small, is to create a high impact offer. That's to say, something that delivers a big result for your ideal clients.

When I work with clients, I refer to this as 'your one big thing'.

There are a few huge benefits of this type of offer:

  • The first and most obvious is that you're delivering amazing results for your clients (win, win!)
  • High impact means high income - the bigger the problem you solve, the more people will pay.
  • It's easier for you to hit your income goals with a small audience because you only need to work with a handful of clients to reach them.
  • You get to go deep with your clients and that helps you to develop your ideal client knowledge.
  • You get to grow your business by focusing on doing a few things really well rather than trying to do all the things
  • YOU BECOME KNOWN FOR WHAT YOU DO.

Be memorable

It's great to be recognised - but less great if people immediately forget you and move on. So how can you also be memorable?

Make people feel something

We remember the things (or people) that make us feel something. What do you want your audience to feel when they think of you and your business?

There are so many ways to evoke emotion - even a simple meme can make us laugh. Other ways to hit your audience in the feels could be:

  • Sharing stories
  • Rants
  • Being vulnerable
  • Speaking to topics and issues your audience would relate to
  • Talking about causes that mean a lot to you
  • Sharing your values and beliefs

Keep it simple

It's easier to remember something simple so consider how you can simplify your content and your messaging.

A clear and simple message is an incredibly powerful thing.

  • Who do you serve?
  • What do you help them with?
  • What makes you different?

If I were to answer those questions, I would say:

I help mum service providers to hit 5k months and become known for what they do. I do this by helping them to develop and fill a stand-out signature offer that serves their clients deeply.

Now it's your turn - how would you answer those questions in a simple and compelling way?

personal touches

As a service provider, your clients don't just choose to work with you because of the results you help them with - they choose to work with you because of YOU. That's why relationship building is such an important part of the marketing journey.

Before someone becomes a client they need to feel like they know you, like they connect with you in some way and of course, like they can trust you to help them.

What can you do to add more YOU to your marketing? Here are just a few ideas...

  • Stories/behind the scenes content
  • Handwritten notes
  • Remembering birthdays
  • Responding thoughtfully to emails and comments

By now you've hopefully got some inspiration on how you and your business can stand out more - and if creating an awesome signature offer is something you're interested in then I'd love to help!
